About ScholarReels
ScholarReels is the scholarly index and repository for research videos — a community where research papers become narrated Shorts, Highlights, and Video Abstracts, every video quality-checked — a machine grounding review or a named human attestation (see below).
Short 20–90 s · vertical 9:16 (60 s encouraged) • Highlight 20 s–2 min · horizontal 16:9 • Video Abstract strictly over 2 min and up to 5 min · horizontal 16:9 · authors only, accepted/published papers. These duration limits are strictly enforced.
Why it exists
Research deserves the reach of modern media without losing its rigor. Most research video is either accurate but invisible, or visible but unaccountable. ScholarReels exists to hold both bars at once: videos people actually watch, grounded in the papers they come from.
Two ways we vouch for a video
Every video is trustworthy in one of two ways, and the video's page tells you which: a machine grounding review for videos made with our tools, or a human attestation for community uploads. Either way, nothing is auto-published — a moderator reviews every video first.
✓ Made with our tools — grounding review
A video rendered with SheQAI's tools carries a grounding report — the load-bearing claims, each paired with the span of the paper it comes from — and a faithfulness review you can read.
👥 Community upload — peer attestation
A video uploaded by a researcher is backed by a human attestation: the author's own, or a PhD-holding reviewer who confirms the video presents the paper's claims correctly. Both are checked by a moderator.
📚 A living index
Subscribe to subjects, authors, venues, and institutions to build your feed. Verified channels for conferences, journals, and institutions gather their community's videos in one place.
🔓 Open access
Watching is free and open — no paywall, no login to browse. Videos are citable, embeddable, and discoverable. An author-attested Video Abstract can be assigned a permanent DOI (via Zenodo, under CC BY 4.0).
Who's behind it
ScholarReels is an initiative by SheQAI Research (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) — building infrastructure for scientific and scholarly communication. Meet the team, including our reviewer program (coming soon).
SheQAI also makes TeX2Vid, a tool that turns papers into video — so we run an index and sell one of the things that feeds it. Video made with our tool gets no advantage here: same submission, same review, same ranking. How we hold ourselves to that, and how you can check it, is in our editorial and neutrality policy.
